Religious Beliefs

     When I was little, my mom took me to church with her every Sunday morning. Every Sunday, from what I can remember, I fell asleep in church. I would always wake up with a blanket on me. As I grow older, my mom told me I had to read speeches for Easter and perform in Christmas plays. When I finally turned the age of six years old, I had to stay awake for church service. Church service was from 11 o’clock to 1 o’clock. These church hours felt like a long time to a girl at the age of six. Also, I didn’t understand what the pastor was talking about. The church I went to was named Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

     My beliefs when I was kid, shapes my current religious beliefs because of what my mom did in the past. My beliefs now are much stronger in God. His name is Jesus. His father name is God Almighty. He has other name to but two of my favorites are Alpha and Omega. Alpha means the beginning and Omega means the end. Also I do believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and every one else’s. He is my father and created the world. God also created the Holy Bible. The church I go to now is named New Birth Kingdom International Christian Church. This church I feel is a church that I can understand. My pastor and his wife bring things to an understanding for child for children and teens. The most people that come to my church are college students. This is because they understand the pastors. I truly love my church.

Family

    

     When I was little, my family celebrated my birthday together. When I was little, we had a family dog. When I was little, my family celebrated Christmas together. For Christmas every year I would get a hat, glove, scarf set. When I grow up I want my kids to receive a set as well as other gifts under the Christmas tree for Santa. When I grow up I want my family to celebrate the holidays with me. When I grow up I want to try to carry out my family traditions.

     My family really does impact my hopes and dreams. My mom impacts my hopes and dreams by helping me to strive in everything I do. My granny influences my hopes and dreams by showing me what I can achieve if I put my mind to it. My daddy affects my hopes and dreams by telling I don’t need a boyfriend until I’m 35 years old. My daddy says this because he thinks boyfriends often lead to sex and babies and he doesn’t want grandchildren yet. Plus, he is a boy and he knows how they think. My aunt sunshine impacts my life by the way she looks. My aunt is skinny and is muscular but not too much. Also, she is a fitness trainer. She is 43₊ in age. That is the way I want to look when I get her age to. This is some of the reason why I love my family.

My Childhood Temper

    
When I was a kid I had a temper. The way my temper tantrums went was I would get mad and hold my breath. When I held my breath I would pass out. My mom wouldn't know what to do. She would take me to the hospital to see what was really going on with me. The doctor told her I was really just having a temper tantrum. The next time I had a tantrum, my mom would spank me so I would start breathing again.
     When I grew up my mom finally told me why she spanked me. Some spankings I got were because of other tantrums I would have. Some problems I had been not getting my way. When I didn't get my way I would cry and fall out. What I mean by that is, I would fall to the floor and cry, cry, cry. But mommy didn't let that happen. My mom said "I'll give you something to cry about." But as a kid I knew when I was supposed to be quiet but she always taught me the right things for the wrong things to do. And I will always love her for it. Thanks MOM.

School Attitude

  
  
   My attitude towards school is positive. What I mean by that is I like school. In school I like to get good grades. The good grades I want are straight A's. If I get a B then I need to bring it up immediately. Getting a C is like getting an F to me. But getting an F is very horrible. Nobody should ever get an F. If an F is the very best you can do then is the best. The very best I can get is an A. I am an A+ student.
     I do think that success in your studies affects your future predictor of success later on in life. If you get bad grades such as D's on every quiz and test or homework papers then you might not do so well in college unless you change the way you really feel about school. The way I feel about writing papers will most-likely change, because every college student as to read and write. The way I feel about math will never change. This is because I like math because I like to work with numbers instead of words. Even though words are in math too sometimes there is not as much of them as in stories or papers we have to write for school. Also the way I feel about the other subjects such as History, Science, and Foreign Language is probably going to say the same I will never want to do it but I am going to have too.

Heroism

Heroism

The real definition of hero is a man distinguishing courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds or noble qualities. Hero is also known as a role model, bold, courageous, and daring. My definition of hero is a strong, fearless, and not afraid of life and to take life for granted. Also I see a hero as someone that would die for me. Being brave for someone else is a nice thing to do for somebody you love or care for dearly. Being a hero is a big thing. It's a person that someone looks up to when their down or just someone they want to be like.
     My hero is Ms. Delores Smith. She is my hero because I want to be like her when I grow up. This is because she has good things going for her. She takes care of her own. What I mean by that is she handles her own business. She also influences me as well as other to do the best that I can. My granny also encourages me to go to school and go to college. I love my granny so much.

Blog Review

   
  The Grade for my 1st quarter blog was overall good. The things I did right were, that my blog was very organized. Also my paragraphs were focused on the topic the prompt Mrs. Hayes gave me. Then I Provide great details about the book Perfect Chemistry in my paragraphs. What I could have done better was copy and paste picture that has to do with the plot and the conflict in the story. Also what I could have done better was provide more information about the book I was reading. Then I really need to improve on my spelling and punctuation. This is because some words are just a little harder for me to spell and sometimes the punctuation I just forget. For my next Quarter blog I would like to take my time and think carefully how I spell words, capitalizing my words, and just change my punctuation errors.
     My attitude toward blogging first quarter was mad and sad. I was mad because I had to blog in paragraphs. Also I was sad because I had to do read a book so I could blog. But by the end of the first quarter I grew to like blogging and I like making book trailers too. In the 2nd quarter I am started not to like blogging. This is because we are reading a book that I don't really understand. When I try to blog I forget what I've read and trying to comprehend about the book.
The book we are reading in class is called "King of the Mild Frontier," By Chris Crutcher. The first few chapters talk about Chris being young and the things he use to do. One thing he said he did, in the book, was that he threw temper tantrums. When he was a kid he use to hit his head on the table on purpose  so his mother ask the doctor what she should do so about it and he kept telling her whatever he does do it hard. What I mean by that is when he hits his head on the table on purpose bang his head harder on the table. Then in the 2nd chapter which is called "Bawl Baby," which is all he really did. He cried when the New York Yankees lost the World Series, when anybody hit him, and he cried when he was down to his last cookie. What I predicted will happen next in the book is when he went to school and how it was.

5 Literary Elements of Perfect Chemistry

 1. Character- The people or animals in the book
Brittany says "Everyone knows Im perfect. My life is perfect. My clothes are perfect. Even my family is perfect. And although it's a complete lie, I've worked my butt off to keep up the appearance that I have it all. the truth, if it were to come out, would destroy my entire picture-perfect image."
Alex says "My veins fire up as I flag right back before straddling my motorcycle. They want a tough-as -nails member, they got one. I put on a hell of a show to the outside world;sometimes I even surprise myself."
The author presents Brittany as a rich and perfect teenage.The author presents Alex as a gang member that only does bad thing but has a loving side to him.

2.  Setting-Where, when, time, and idea where the story took place
Sierra says "Chicago isn't exactly known for its calm weather."
Brittany though "I say as i drive on Vine Street toward Fairfield High in my new convertible."
The author presents the setting in Chicago, IL at Fairfield High.

3.  Point of View - The perspective the book is told from
This whole book is told in a limited Point of View.
Brittany says "Everyone knows I'm perfect." "My hair gets all frizzy in this car,Sierra."
Alex says "I knew I would be called into the new principal's office at some point during the year, but I didn't expect it to be on the first day of school." "I'm not starting any fights." "I might finish one thought"
The author tells the whole book in a limited Point of View. Each chapter either is named Brittany or Alex because its from there point of view.

4.  Conflict - The problem in the story
Sierra says "Rumor has it Carmen Sanchez is looking for you." (Carmen is in the same gang as Alex. She is trying to get back at Brittany for almost running into the back of Alex's motorcycle.)
(Chemistry class ) Mrs. Peterson says " Brittany Ellis you are here (sitting at a science school table) Then she says Alejandro Fuentes you are next to Brittany. (Which is a problem because Brittany thinks Alex is a bad person and thinks he wont get the projects for chem class done with her so she thinks she's going to fail the class.)
The author presents conflict in this book to be Man vs. Man. The conflict is between Carmen and Brittany , Brittany and Alex, Alex and Colin, and there was some internal conflict. Which is between Brittany and her mind,and Alex and his mind.

5.  Mood - The way the author want you to think about the book
Alex whispers, "There's a thin line between love and hate.Maybe you're confusing your emotions." (This mood tells me he's playing with Brittany's head.)
Brittany says " I wouldn't bet on it." (This mood tells me Brittany doesn't want anything to do with Alex.)
The author presents the mood to be a hate /love relationship between Brittany and Alex.

     This classical composer is by Franz Liszt. This is classical music is called Die Zelle in Nonnenwerth. I chose this classical piece because in the book Perfect Chemistry, Brittany first wakes up and gets dressed in a happy mood, which makes me happy. Then when she starts to think about whats going to happen at school the music kind of gets louder because of what she actually thinks.This would be "How perfect I have to be to see my Boyfriend.Then the mood is like intense because she almost hits Alex when he is on his motorcycle. This is also when Carmen first gets mad at Brittany.
     During school Brittany sees her boyfriend Colin in the hallway. She loves Collin very much. Then the mood of the music goes low and Brittany enters her chemistry class. This is were it changes because Alex and Brittany become chemistry partner.But Brittany wanted to to be partners with her boyfriend. Collins partner is Darlene, one of the pom pom team with Brittany. Everydsay they enter this chemistry class, Alex Colin always get in trouble because Colin doesnt like Alex and he doesn't like him . Brittany gets in trouble as well with them because She is always on Colins side and she just thinks that Alex is a gang banger and does drugs so she doesn't like him. That is why I chose this Classical Composer.

Perfect Chemistry

  Hello, I'm Malika Smith. I am currently a freshman at the Carbondale Community High School.I  really do not like to read but i found this book to be very interesting. At the beginning of school, when i found out we were going to start blogging i really thought that it was boring but as we keep going on i find it to really fun.  The book that i am reading is called "Perfect Chemistry" by Simone Elkeles. I Chose this book to read because i like to read about the chemistry of a boy and a girl. Also I like to read about different sides of school such as south side and north side. In the book Perfect Chemistry there is a girl named Brittany who is head pom-pom girl and tries to convince everyone that she is perfect. Brittany has sister named Shelley, who is in a wheelchair. Then there is Alejandro Fuentes who is a Latino Blood, which is a gang. Brittany has a boy friend named Colin,who she loves deeply. Also this is their senior year in high school. All Brittany wants to do is survive and get out of there known as the perfect girl. So this book basically has drama and a love story. So I will just have to read on And find out for myself how the book really ends.
